Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively send or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's not enough time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This departure from FromSoftware's established message-based interaction, a feature previously praised for enhancing player experience and interactivity, is notable. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. Players can expect a fresh adventure filled with unique challenges and encounters, while retaining the signature atmosphere and complex world design of Elden Ring.
