Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 Nerfs Reverted Following Player Outcry; Public Test Servers Planned for 2025
Saber Interactive is releasing hotfix 4.1 for Space Marine 2, directly addressing player concerns stemming from the nerfs introduced in Patch 4.0. The developer has announced the creation of public test servers, anticipated for early 2025, to gather feedback before future updates.
Patch 4.1, arriving October 24th, reverses the "most pressing" balance changes from Patch 4.0. This follows significant negative feedback and review bombing on Steam. Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated the decision to revert the changes was a direct response to player feedback.
The original intent of Patch 4.0 was to increase enemy numbers, rather than their health, to address feedback that the game was too easy, even on the highest difficulty. However, this negatively impacted lower difficulty settings.
Patch 4.1's key changes include:
- Enemy Spawn Rates: Significantly reduced on Ruthless difficulty; reverted to pre-Patch 4.0 levels on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties.
- Player Armor: Increased by 10% on Ruthless difficulty.
- Bot Damage: Buffed to deal 30% more damage to bosses.
- Bolt Weapon Buffs: Substantial damage increases across the board for various bolt weapons (see detailed breakdown below).
Bolt Weapon Damage Increases in Hotfix 4.1:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)
Saber Interactive will continue monitoring player feedback after Patch 4.1 to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging. The introduction of public test servers aims to proactively address balance concerns in the future.
