Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet appears set to offer players a significant degree of freedom, diverging notably from the studio's past projects. Inspired by Elden Ring, the developers aim to integrate similar open-world exploration mechanics, promising a rich gaming experience. Journalist Ben Hanson has revealed that the game will be set on a vast single planet, where players will unravel the mysteries of a lost civilization and delve into the intricacies of a new religion, which plays a pivotal role in the narrative. While it's uncertain how closely the game will adhere to traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the developers are steering away from the linear formats they've previously employed.
For the first time, The Heretic Prophet will feature a solo player experience, devoid of companions or allies. Neil Druckmann explains that the studio intends to evoke a profound sense of solitude within an uncharted universe, while also exploring deep themes of faith and religion. The story unfolds in an alternate future on the planet Sempiria, isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years. It is here that bounty hunter Jordan Moon arrives, driven by her contract.
Druckmann also highlighted that the game's development drew inspiration from titles like Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This suggests a move away from conventional guidance systems towards a narrative style where players must assemble the story's pieces independently.
Announced at TGA 2024, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet does not yet have a confirmed release date.
