Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC Version: Director's Insights on Mods and DLC
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi recently shared insights into the game's PC release, addressing player interest in potential DLC and the modding community. Read on for details.
DLC: A Matter of Player Demand
While the development team initially considered adding episodic DLC to the PC version, Hamaguchi confirmed that prioritizing completion of the trilogy's final installment took precedence due to resource constraints. However, he left the door open: "If we receive strong player requests after release, we would consider them." Essentially, substantial player demand could influence future DLC development.
A Message to Modders: Creativity with Responsibility
Hamaguchi also addressed the modding community, acknowledging the inevitable influx of player-created modifications despite the lack of official mod support. He appealed for responsible modding, requesting that creators refrain from offensive or inappropriate content.
The potential for creative and enhancing mods is significant, as seen in the history of modding, but maintaining a respectful and appropriate online environment is crucial.
PC Version Enhancements and Challenges
The PC version boasts graphical improvements, including enhanced lighting and texture resolutions, addressing previous criticisms of the PS5 version's "uncanny valley" effect on character faces. However, porting the game's numerous mini-games presented unique challenges, particularly in configuring key settings.
