Concord: A Hero Shooter Roadmap and Gameplay Strategies

With Concord's August 23rd launch fast approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled details about the game's post-launch content and strategic gameplay. This article summarizes the key updates and tips for mastering Concord.
No Battle Pass Required

Launching on August 23rd for PS5 and PC, Concord prioritizes a rewarding base experience. Unlike many hero shooters, it eschews a battle pass system, focusing instead on rewarding gameplay, character progression, and job completion. Rewards are earned through gameplay, eliminating the need for a potentially pay-to-win structure.
Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)

Concord's first major post-launch update, Season 1: The Tempest, introduces a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner Variants, and a range of cosmetic rewards. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will enrich the Northstar crew's storyline.
In-Game Store (Season 1)
An in-game store will debut in Season 1, offering purely cosmetic items that won't impact gameplay balance. These are supplementary to the many rewards earned through progression.
Season 2 (January 2025) and Beyond
Season 2 is planned for January 2025, demonstrating Firewalk Studios' commitment to consistent seasonal content updates throughout Concord's first year.
Gameplay Strategies and Crew Builder

Concord's "Crew Builder" system is key to team composition. Each Custom Crew consists of five unique Freegunners, with the option to include up to three copies of any Freegunner Variant. This allows for strategic team customization based on playstyle and match challenges.
Unlike traditional roles (Tank, Support), Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS and effective gunfights. Six roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—define their impact on the match, emphasizing area control, strategic positioning, and flanking maneuvers. Balancing roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, weapon recoil, cooldown times, and more.
