Hazelight Studios' Josef Fares recently revealed key details about their upcoming title, Split Fiction, in an interview. Reiterating previous statements, Fares stressed Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a single-purchase model, eschewing live-service elements and microtransactions. The studio also has no plans for an IPO or acquisition:
"We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
In a conversation with MinnMax, Fares confirmed that Split Fiction's main story will take approximately 12-14 hours to complete, comparable to It Takes Two. With optional content and side missions, the total playtime could reach 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight is known for its cooperative games, Fares hinted at the potential for future single-player projects. He mentioned that Split Fiction's development budget was double that of It Takes Two, but the studio chose to avoid post-launch DLC, ensuring players have access to all features from launch day. Split Fiction will be released worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
