Description:
ZhiZhu! - The Spider™ is the new, modern, and more challenging twist on the ancient and classic game known as "Nine Men’s Morris".
Game Content:
1 Spiderweb board, 9 white Spiders and 9 black Spiders.
START: Player A begins with 9 White Spiders, Player B with 9 Black Spiders, and the board starts empty.
GOAL: The goal is to capture your opponent's Spiders that have been placed on the board.
How Do You Capture Spiders from Your Opponent?
You capture your opponent's Spiders by forming aligned chains:
SMALL CHAIN: 3 SPIDERS aligned on any one of the 8 straight lines.
BIG CHAIN: 5 SPIDERS aligned on any one of the 3 circles.
PLAYING THE GAME: The game has two phases:
PHASE 1 – Placement:
Players take turns placing their 9 Spiders, one at a time, on any of the 24 vacant locations on the Spiderweb.
Chains (Small or Big) can be formed during this phase, which may result in capturing 1 or 2 of your opponent's Spiders accordingly.
PHASE 2 – Sliding Movement:
After all Spiders have been placed, players take turns sliding one Spider to an adjacent empty location on the Spiderweb (left, right, up, or down from its current spot).
Capturing Pieces:
When a player forms a Small Chain (3 aligned Spiders), they immediately capture (remove) one Spider from their opponent's Spiders on the board.
When a player forms a Big Chain (5 aligned Spiders), they immediately capture (remove) two Spiders from their opponent's Spiders on the board.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
A player cannot capture Spider(s) that are already part of a Small or Big Chain, unless there are no other loose Spiders available to capture.
A player cannot capture Spiders by reforming a new chain using the same Spider(s) in the exact same locations.
A new chain is valid only if it includes at least one new Spider that has been moved (slid) into position.
WINNING:
The player who captures 7 of their opponent's Spiders wins.
A player can also win if their opponent ‘Gives Up,’ conceding that there is no viable way to recover and win the game.
