A 30-40 Hour Main Campaign Awaits

Prepare for an immersive journey! Creative Director Jonathan Dumont confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows (AC Shadows) boasts a 30-40 hour main campaign. During the Kyoto Showcase Event, Dumont revealed this alongside over 80 hours of additional side content. Furthermore, the team is actively exploring the addition of a New Game+ mode and other features based on player feedback, addressing a significant request from fans disappointed by the absence of this feature in AC Valhalla.
Dumont highlighted AC Shadows' key features: a dynamic world with realistic seasonal changes and weather systems, innovative gameplay mechanics, a vastly expanded customizable hideout, and a compelling new Animus storyline that will connect to future Assassin’s Creed titles.
A Japanese-Themed Assassin’s Creed Dream Realized

The development team behind AC Shadows harbored a long-held ambition to create a game centered around Japan. Dumont explained that the unique challenges of depicting the Japanese landscape and culture, alongside a compelling narrative, finally became achievable thanks to advancements in technology.
Drawing inspiration from iconic Japanese films like 13 Assassins, Sekigahara, Zatoichi, and the works of Kurosawa, the team has crafted a unique Assassin’s Creed experience. While acknowledging the online discussions surrounding the game, particularly regarding Yasuke's portrayal, Dumont emphasized the team's dedication to delivering a high-quality game and showcasing their respect for Japanese culture and their fans.
Deep Dive into the Hideout: Your Customizable Brotherhood Base
The Secret Valley of Izumi Settsu

On March 5th, 2025, AC Shadows unveiled a detailed look at the Hideout's features. Nestled within the secret valley of Izumi Settsu province, this serves as your operational base for building your Brotherhood.
Systems Associate Director Dany described the Hideout as "pretty ambitious," highlighting its unprecedented level of customization. Players receive an entire acre of land to personalize, placing buildings, pavilions, pathways, and even local flora and fauna. Dany emphasized the team's desire for players to truly "make the Hideout their own," noting that customization options unlock progressively throughout the adventure, mirroring the player's journey.
A League of Your Own: Dynamic Character Interactions

The Hideout will house various characters, each with their own backstories and challenges. Their locations within the Hideout are influenced by building placement, leading to unique interactions. For example, combat-oriented characters might gravitate towards the Dojo, while others enjoy socializing in the Zashiki.
This design fosters dynamic dialogue between characters, bringing the Hideout to life and strengthening the bond between your allies. Dany highlighted the collaborative effort of writers from four different studios, creating rich interactions based on scenarios like "What would happen if these two characters suddenly became roommates?" This intricate detail makes the Hideout the vibrant heart of your Brotherhood.
With its immersive features and authentic Japanese setting, Assassin’s Creed Shadows promises a captivating experience for players. The game launches March 20th, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates!
