In addition to the PC version, Sony is expanding No Return Mode with two new playable characters from The Last of Us Part I: Bill and Marlene. Bill, categorized under the "Smuggler" playstyle, can access a custom pump shotgun from dead drops and earns double rewards from drops, though he's vulnerable to melee attacks and can't dodge. Marlene, with the "Risk Taker" playstyle, comes equipped with a Custom Assault Rifle, "All or Nothing" gambits, and the ability to reroute her path once per run.

Four new maps are also being added to No Return Mode:
- Overlook: Set high above Seattle, offering vertical gameplay and reminiscent of a Seraphites encounter in the campaign.
- School: An abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina faced the W.L.F.
- Streets: Located in the overgrown Hillcrest neighborhood of Seattle.
- Nest: Familiar to players as Abby's path through an Infected-infested building.

All new No Return content, along with new Trophies and bug fixes, will be available on PS5 alongside the PC launch through a free 2.0.0 patch.
Regarding PSN integration, while signing into a PSN account is optional for the PC version, doing so grants access to the PlayStation overlay, PSN Trophies, and 50 in-game points for bonus features. Additionally, PSN sign-ins unlock a new skin for Ellie, featuring Jordan A. Mun’s jacket from Naughty Dog’s upcoming PS5 game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. This skin will also be available to PS5 players via the 2.0 patch, unlockable with in-game bonus points.

In other news, The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann recently discussed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which has been in development for four years. The game explores themes of faith and religion in an alternate historical timeline, featuring Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun.
The PC release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered comes ahead of Season 2 of HBO's The Last of Us TV series, where showrunners Druckmann and Craig Mazin have confirmed the return of spores, omitted in Season 1.
