Xbox Developer Direct 2025: A Sneak Peek at Upcoming Titles
Microsoft has announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, marking the first Xbox game showcase of 2025. This will be the third annual Xbox Developer Direct, following successful showcases in January 2023 and 2024.
The event, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT, will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch. While initially rumored for January 9th, the official announcement confirms the January 23rd date.
Confirmed Games:
The showcase will feature at least three highly anticipated titles:
- South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few). Announced in June 2023, a release date is expected.
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, this title was announced in June 2024 and showcased at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 launch is rumored.
Beyond the Confirmed Lineup:
Previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and featured multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event likely holds additional surprises beyond these three confirmed titles. The 2024 showcase, for example, included previews of Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana.
