A paid downloadable content pack for Hogwarts Legacy has been unexpectedly canceled, a report from Bloomberg reveals.
Citing sources, Bloomberg states Warner Bros. was developing a premium story expansion for the Harry Potter adventure title, intended to launch this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game.
However, Warner Bros. scrapped the DLC this week. Sources indicate the decision stemmed from concerns that the planned content did not offer enough value for its intended price point. The company declined to comment on the report.
This move is part of Warner Bros.' ongoing restructuring of its gaming division, which faces financial challenges. Earlier this year, the company canceled its in-development Wonder Woman game, shutting down studios Monolith Productions, WB San Diego, and Player First Games. It also implemented layoffs at Rocksteady last September.
Despite canceling this expansion, Warner Bros. has consistently emphasized that Hogwarts Legacy and the Harry Potter franchise remain cornerstone assets. The company has labeled a sequel to the hit game as a top priority as it concentrates on larger, flagship franchises. The original game has surpassed 30 million units sold globally.
