Poncle, the UK-based developer behind the hit roguelike Vampire Survivors, has offered a progress update on the game's upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 releases. Following the May releases of its latest expansion and update, the studio shed light on the anticipated console ports, initially announced for Summer 2024.
Launched in December 2021, Vampire Survivors, a top-down shooter featuring relentless monster waves, gained immense popularity. After a successful Nintendo Switch port, the PS4 and PS5 versions were confirmed in April. While a precise release date remains elusive, Poncle assures fans it will be revealed shortly. The delay, they explain, is due to the unfamiliarity of navigating PlayStation's submission process and fine-tuning the trophy system to ensure a satisfying achievement experience, mirroring the game's extensive 200+ achievements on Steam.
The PlayStation releases are slated for Summer 2024. Poncle's transparency has been met with appreciation from fans, many expressing excitement for the prospect of earning a Platinum trophy – a coveted reward for completing all achievements – a testament to the game's challenging nature.
The recent May 9th release of "Operation Guns," a DLC inspired by Konami's Contra franchise, introduced new Contra-themed biomes, 11 characters, and 22 automatic weapons, along with classic Contra music. A subsequent hotfix, 1.10.105, addressed bugs in both the base game and the new DLC on May 16th.
