Fans of the eagerly anticipated Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will have to wait a bit longer, as the game's release has been pushed back to October 2025. This latest delay, announced discreetly within a recent update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, marks yet another shift in the game's long history of schedule changes. Although it's only a few months later than the previously targeted first half of 2025, this news comes with the assurance that the core game is complete.
"The status of the game right now is that the game is done," stated Executive Producer Marco Behrmann. "We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases."
Despite the disappointment of another delay, the accompanying video offers some encouraging updates. The Chinese Room has enhanced the game with more content, deeper narratives, and richer character development since the last major update. Fans can also look forward to an "evolved role" for the character Fabien in the storyline. However, those hoping for regular updates may be disappointed as the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter account has announced less frequent updates moving forward.
The journey to this point has been fraught with challenges. Initially announced in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs with a planned Q1 2020 release, the game faced its first delay to late 2020. Subsequent delays pushed the release to 2021, and in March of that year, Hardsuit Labs faced layoffs. The development took a significant turn in 2023 when Hardsuit was replaced by The Chinese Room, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, with the latest delay, the game is set to launch in October 2025.
While it remains uncertain if Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will captivate players this fall, The Chinese Room expresses confidence in their work. If the sequel to the 2004 cult-classic succeeds, Paradox Interactive has hinted that another developer, referred to as "someone else," will take on the development of Bloodlines 3.
