Garry's Mod creator Gary Newman confirmed today to IGN that he received a DMCA notice late last year from individuals associated with the Skibidi Toilet copyright holders. Newman posted on a Discord server about the takedown notice, remarking, "Can you believe the cheek?" He subsequently found himself involved in a Skibidi Toilet x Garry's Mod DMCA-related dispute that went viral yesterday. Newman reportedly also confirmed that the issue has now been "resolved" following the revelation, though the identity of the DMCA sender remains undisclosed.
The notice Newman received concerned his sandbox game published by Valve in 2006, Garry's Mod. The DMCA notice targeted "unauthorized Skibidi Toilet Garry's Mod" creations, which generate substantial revenue, according to the DMCA sender. These creations utilize characters from the viral Skibidi Toilet web series, such as Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, and Titan TV Man, all of which the sender claimed to be registered copyrights.
