Rust, the acclaimed multiplayer survival game, has launched a major expansion known as The Crafting Update. This release significantly broadens players' creative possibilities with a suite of new tools. A key addition is the culinary workbench, where survivors can roast chicken legs and enjoy their meal with a shot of Siberian vodka. Cooking now involves following specific recipes, and a well-prepared dish grants valuable stat boosts and modifiers to improve your survival experience.
Players can now raise chickens and chicks in coops. When cared for properly, the birds will live, lay eggs, and flourish. Each chick has four core needs: Hunger, Thirst, Affection, and Sunlight. Failing to meet any of these requirements will cause the birds to die. Meat harvested from chickens will spoil over time, so it must be stored in a working refrigerator to remain usable. Timers on food items now clearly show their expiration dates.
For those with a sweet tooth, wild beehives now appear on trees. Honeycombs must be carefully harvested and moved into player-built hives made from wooden boxes. Since bees are dangerous, players need to wear protective bee suits, soak themselves with water, or use flamethrowers to avoid getting stung. A new weapon, the Bee Grenade, looks like a jar of honey. When thrown and broken, it releases three swarms of hostile bees that will aggressively chase players.
The engineering workbench has been entirely overhauled and now includes a dedicated tech tree for plumbing and electrical systems. This empowers players to construct complex automated networks and even full-scale factories. Furthermore, the developers have introduced premium servers, which are exclusively available to players whose Rust inventory is worth at least $15. This initiative is designed to reduce cheating and toxic behavior, creating a more enjoyable environment for committed players.
