A former employee of the studio disclosed on LinkedIn that a game, which had been in development for several years, saw its production halted this week. No specific reasons were provided for the sudden stop in development. Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb clarified that this project was not a mainline entry in the series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn Entertainment had assembled a unique "experimental team" for this project, bringing on board experts skilled in crafting multiplayer shooters.
This isn't the first time Respawn has had to pull the plug on a project. Last year, they canceled another game, an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall franchise, known for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in combat either as agile pilots or commanding formidable Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the series has captured the hearts of gamers with its innovative gameplay, featuring parkour and intense team battles.
Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other high-profile projects. They are diligently working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and are collaborating with Bit Reactor on a new strategy game set in the expansive Star Wars universe.
