According to Remedy's latest annual report, Control 2 has triumphantly passed its concept validation phase and is now in full production. This crucial milestone signals strong progress for the eagerly awaited sequel, confirming that the project is on track for future release.
In addition to Control 2, Remedy is actively developing two more exciting projects: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. A year ago, these titles were in the preliminary stages of production, but they have since progressed significantly. However, the project Kestrel, which was a collaborative effort with Tencent, has been canceled and removed from the studio's development slate since May of last year.
All these ambitious projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has demonstrated its prowess in titles like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy creations.
Budget-wise, Control 2 is set with an estimated budget of 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and is slated for release on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC platforms. On the other hand, FBC: Firebreak comes with a slightly lower budget of 30 million euros. This title will be accessible through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services at launch, and will also be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The budget details for the remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remain undisclosed, but they are confirmed to be AAA-level projects. Both development and marketing for these remakes are entirely funded by Rockstar Games, ensuring a high-quality revival of these classic titles.
