Insomniac Games Co-Studio Heads Interviewed Following Founder and CEO Ted Price's Retirement
Insomniac Games Eyes More Game-to-Screen Adaptations

Insomniac Games, creators of the beloved Ratchet and Clank series, has expressed a strong interest in adapting more of their games into films. This was revealed by co-Studio Head Ryan Schneider in a recent interview with Variety, following the announcement of founder and long-time CEO Ted Price's retirement.
"Looking back at the Ratchet and Clank movie from a few years ago, we got a head start on that process," Schneider stated. "So, naturally, we're interested in exploring more opportunities. We have a special fondness for Ratchet and Clank."
While the 2016 Ratchet and Clank film received mixed reviews, Insomniac Games, now under the Sony umbrella since 2019, feels confident about future game-to-screen adaptations. Sony's proven success with adaptations like The Last of Us significantly boosts their confidence.
Sony's Expanding Video Game Adaptation Lineup

With Insomniac's expressed interest, Sony's track record speaks volumes. Sony has successfully brought several game titles to life on film and television, including the 2022 Uncharted movie and the critically acclaimed 2023 The Last of Us series.
Further bolstering their commitment, Sony announced additional projects at CES 2025. This includes The Last of Us Season 2, premiering on HBO in April 2025, alongside a live-action Until Dawn film also slated for April 2025. Looking further ahead, a Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime series is coming to Crunchyroll in 2027. A Helldivers feature film and a live-action Horizon Zero Dawn adaptation are also in development, though release dates remain unannounced.
Insomniac Founder and CEO Ted Price Retires After 30 Years

Alongside the co-Studio Heads' interview, Insomniac Founder and CEO Ted Price announced his retirement after a remarkable three decades. Insomniac Games, the studio behind iconic franchises like Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Marvel's Spider-Man, will now be led by three veteran Insomniac employees: Ryan Schneider, Chad Dezern, and Jen Huang, working together as Co-Studio Heads.
Price explained his decision, stating, "I made this decision last year. After over 30 years leading Insomniac, it felt like the right time to step aside and allow others to guide our team." He expressed confidence in the new leadership, emphasizing their deep understanding of Insomniac's culture and processes.
