Pokémon TCG Pocket's captivating card art has captivated players for months, but a recent discovery reveals cleverly hidden details linking some Pokémon to their Game Boy origins.
The investigation began when Reddit user asch_win highlighted Spearow's card, showcasing familiar landmarks: grass, a fence, trees, and two buildings. The purple and yellow building is identified as Celadon City's Department Store from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, situated near Route 16, a known Spearow habitat.

This intentional referencing of iconic locations, a collaborative effort by Creatures Inc. and DeNA, isn't limited to Spearow. Reddit user jteede uncovered further connections: a Diglett card near Vermillion City, a Haunter card by Lavender Town's tower, and more. Asch_win also revealed location-specific references within Supporter cards.
Many cards depict Pokémon in fantastical settings unrelated to established lore. Some, like a Pikachu variant, mirror real-world collectible cards. However, the hidden Easter eggs are unique to Pokémon TCG Pocket.
The community is actively searching for more hidden references. Discoveries include the S.S. Anne on a Gyarados card and a storyline linking Oddish, Venonat, and Bellsprout cards to the Snorlax location in FireRed and LeafGreen's seaside area.

Since its October mobile launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket has received one additional booster pack, "Mythical Island," bringing the total to four. Further expansions are anticipated, with additional cards introduced through Wonder Pick Events and updates. As Creatures and DeNA continue releasing cards, players are encouraged to search for more hidden references.
Meanwhile, the current Wonder Pick event features Charmander and Squirtle, and ongoing discussions explore the impact of pack choice on card rarity.
