This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, requiring trading or transferring to obtain them in Pokémon Violet.
Obtaining Deino:
Deino can be found in several locations within Pokémon Scarlet: Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Access to these areas may require Koraidon's abilities. Three-star Tera Raids also offer a chance to encounter Deino, potentially with its Hidden Ability and a varying Tera Type. Zweilous, Deino's evolution, appears in four-star Tera Raids and in the wild in similar locations. Five and six-star Tera Raids offer a chance to encounter Hydreigon.
Transferring Deino to Pokémon Violet:
Since Deino is Scarlet-exclusive, players using Pokémon Violet must utilize trading via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or Pokémon HOME. Pokémon HOME allows transferring from Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet.
- Move Deino to your Basic Box in Pokémon HOME.
- Open Pokémon Violet in HOME and transfer Deino to a PC Box.
Evolving Deino:
Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) to expedite the evolution process.

- Strategy: Hydreigon's significant weakness to Fairy-type moves necessitates a Steel-type move like Flash Cannon (TM). Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse are also recommended moves. Terastallizing can mitigate the Fairy weakness.
