Path of Exile 2's endgame demands significant preparation. Fortunately, the developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign offering permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide details how to locate and utilize this crucial advantage.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter, granting +10% Lightning Resistance, appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Its understated icon on the world map makes it easily overlooked. While the Spires of Deshar map generates randomly, the shrine is always present. Thoroughly explore the map until you locate a shrine resembling the image above. Interacting with it activates the buff. Be prepared for combat; metallic automatons, initially static, will animate and attack upon activation. Activating the shrine triggers the entire map's automaton defenses.
If you reach a checkpoint near the exit before finding the Sisters, you can fast travel back to the shrine's vicinity to avoid traversing the entire map.
Activating the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate. Remember to complete this encounter in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel for a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Why My Lightning Resistance Isn't Increasing
Many players are confused to see their resistances remain negative even after activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (excluding Chaos) after each Act. Therefore, completing the Sisters in Act 2 nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the net Lightning Resistance will improve from -40% to -30% after activating the shrine.
To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance indicates that you have successfully completed both encounters.
