Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially with the recent release of Metro Awakening in VR. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to its unclear objectives and complex station layout. This mission begins after the anomaly clears the nosalis horde in the preceding mission. Khan uses a railcar to reach the next station, and "Cursed" starts upon exiting.
Locating the Bomb
After meeting the defenders near the barricaded escalators, they'll explain that an explosives team went missing while attempting to collapse a tunnel to stop the nosalis. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead; they'll damage Artyom. Retrieve the bomb and either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.
Destroying the Tunnel
With the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically planting and lighting the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb in the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: nosalises may still enter through other routes.
Destroying the Airlock
Even with the tunnel destroyed, another task remains: collapsing the airlock. Take the stairs to the right of the main platform, into the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises and interact with the support columns. Artyom will plant a pipe bomb; evacuate immediately after lighting the fuse. With both entrances sealed, proceed with Khan to the shrine room and the next mission, "Armory."
