Lies of P Overture DLC: Latest Updates
Open to All Possibilities

Following his experience with the Elden Ring: Nightreign network test, Lies of P director Choi Ji-Won felt inspired and is now considering fresh directions for upcoming projects. In a discussion with Eurogamer at the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared his views on developing games in the Souls genre. He has previously expressed his admiration for FromSoftware titles, an influence clearly reflected in Lies of P’s design.
Choi shared his impressions of the upcoming Elden Ring title, stating, "I tried Nightreign and found it incredibly fresh and innovative. It reinforced my belief that they are skilled developers who consistently push creative boundaries—their vision truly shines through. That experience, in turn, motivated me to ensure the Overture DLC reaches its full potential."
He further indicated his willingness to explore multiplayer game development. "As we look to the future, we are absolutely open to all kinds of ideas and considerations," Choi remarked.

Although he appreciates FromSoftware’s work, Choi firmly stated that he does not draw inspiration from any single title. In an interview with Games Radar+ during GDC 2025, he elaborated, "I enjoy a wide range of games, and the diverse experiences and inspirations I gather from them all contribute to shaping the unique identity of Lies of P. Ultimately, it’s a blend of various influences from games I love, transformed into the Lies of P experience we’re crafting for our dedicated fans."
Overture Offers 15-20 Hours of Gameplay for Veteran Players

Choi mentioned that seasoned players can expect to spend 15 to 20 hours on the Overture DLC, which is packed with numerous bosses and content the team originally wanted to include at launch. He explained, "Overture isn’t entirely separate from the base game—there’s strong interconnectivity. Developing the expansion felt like completing the Lies of P journey, which posed its own challenges."
Set as a prequel to the main story, Overture takes players to the grim final days of Krat, where they follow a legendary Stalker. The DLC incorporates new concepts, player feedback, and previously unused ideas that didn’t make it into the initial release due to development constraints. Choi described it as a Director’s Cut, adding what feels like a final chapter to the original game.
He noted, "At launch, we had to prioritize and ensure the highest quality, so we couldn’t include everything at once." Choi also emphasized the strong community support following the base game’s release, which encouraged the team to realize their full vision through the expansion.
Overture Does Not Tie Into the Base Game's Final Cutscene

During an IGN interview at the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Choi clarified that the upcoming DLC is not linked to the base game’s concluding scene. Without spoilers, the ending had hinted at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe under NEOWIZ.
Choi had earlier confirmed a sequel for Lies of P in a Director’s Letter video from November 2023, suggesting the final cutscene may relate to that project. However, the development team has remained quiet regarding details about Lies of P 2.
"I can assure you that when we share news or media, it will be because we are fully prepared to present it. This reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, despite past pressures. That’s my promise—when we release new content or announcements, we’ll be ready," Choi stated.

He recommended that players explore the base game thoroughly, as it contains numerous clues about the DLC’s content. Choi also mentioned reading fan theories online and acknowledged that some have come surprisingly close to the mark.
Lies of P: Overture is scheduled for a Summer 2025 release, though an exact date has not been announced. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates, refer to our article below!
