Rockstar Games has announced a delay for Grand Theft Auto VI, pushing its release to May 26, 2026 from its originally planned fall 2025 window.
In an official statement, Rockstar apologized for the substantial postponement of what's anticipated to be the largest entertainment launch ever:
"We sincerely apologize for delivering this news later than anticipated. The overwhelming excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been incredibly humbling for our entire team. We appreciate your support and patience as we complete development."

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously commented on release timing during a February interview: "There's always development risks, and making absolute promises tends to invite challenges. That said, we felt very confident about our original target."
