Doom Slayers Collection Rumored for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Return
The Doom Slayers Collection, a compilation of four classic and modern Doom titles, may be making a comeback on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The collection, which includes remasters of Doom, Doom II, Doom III, and the 2016 Doom reboot, was delisted in 2024.
Recent ESRB ratings suggest a potential re-release on current-gen consoles. The ratings specifically list PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, omitting Switch and last-gen consoles, hinting at an exclusive current-gen digital release. The recent ESRB rating for Doom 64 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S further supports this speculation, as the physical Doom Slayers Collection originally included a Doom 64 download code. This follows a similar pattern to the previous delisting and re-release of Doom and Doom II as a combined package, Doom + Doom II. This pattern of porting to current-gen consoles is also consistent with Bethesda's and id Software's past practices, as seen with Quake II.
Games Included in the Doom Slayers Collection:
- Doom
- Doom II
- Doom III
- Doom (2016)
Beyond the potential return of the Doom Slayers Collection, fans can anticipate the release of Doom: The Dark Ages, a highly-anticipated prequel set in a medieval setting, slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2025. This new title promises a unique twist on the established sci-fi franchise.
