Idris Elba Wants a Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action with Keanu Reeves
Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has expressed his strong desire for a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film, ideally alongside Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, promoting his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (which also features Reeves), Elba shared his enthusiasm for the idea.
Elba stated that a live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077 would be incredible, particularly with himself and Reeves reprising their roles. He believes the on-screen chemistry between his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' Johnny Silverhand would be electrifying. He playfully declared, "I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [Cyberpunk 2077], and I think his character and my character together would be, ‘Whoa.’ So, let's speak that into existence."
Interestingly, a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project was reported by Variety in October 2023, with CD Projekt Red partnering with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce a year later, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher live-action series suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is a strong possibility.
