Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Step-by-Step Guide
Several quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 require reaching Kuttenberg before initiation. Once there, inter-region travel opens up. This guide details completing the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest.
Prerequisite: "In Vino Veritas"
"Under the Straw Hat" is unlocked via "In Vino Veritas." In Kuttenberg, speak with Casper Rudolf (west side of town) who offers wine samples. He needs information to improve his wine.
You can either directly impress Havel with wine knowledge or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta for more information. If going straight to Havel (requiring clean, fine clothing), select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" as dialogue options to obtain necessary intel. Return this information to Casper.
Accessing the Vineyard
Casper now wants you to infiltrate the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to investigate the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid trespassing by using the main road. Speak to the recruiter; this initiates "Under the Straw Hat." Proceed to find Jerome on a bench within the estate. Inform him of your assigned duties.
Working at the Vineyard
Work begins the following day. Return to the vineyard. To earn wages, move sacks and harvest thistles. Alternatively, directly acquire the secret incense.
The incense is in the cellar (main building, downstairs). Access requires lockpicking or stealing Jerome's keys (risk of punishment if caught). Locate the chest, take the Sulphur Wicks (main objective). Optionally, gather five seedlings for Casper (increased reward, requires quick trespassing).
After completing your tasks (or acquiring the incense), return to Casper to deliver the wicks and (optionally) seedlings. This completes "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas," paving the way for quests like "Master Schindel's Toys."
