"Could Be Interesting," Says Director
Following the resounding success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developer Sandfall Interactive is considering a potential release on the upcoming Switch 2. In a recent interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche discussed the studio's future plans in light of their game's impressive launch.
Broche remarked, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything." The team is now deliberating on their next steps, as the game's achievements have opened up numerous possibilities.
When probed about a potential Switch 2 release, Broche expressed openness to the idea, stating, "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting." With the highly anticipated launch of the Switch 2 on the horizon, it seems fitting for the year's top-rated game to make its way to the new handheld console. Fans eagerly await confirmation on whether they'll be able to enjoy the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on Nintendo's latest device.
No Official Merchandise...Yet!
The flood of requests and opportunities has also reached Sandfall Interactive, with fans clamoring for official merchandise, particularly an Esquie plush. The studio has yet to release any official merchandise for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and has warned fans about counterfeit items circulating online. In a tweet on May 14, they cautioned, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."
They further highlighted the use of AI-generated artwork in these bootleg products, strongly advising against purchasing them due to the risk of scams. However, Sandfall Interactive is actively working on creating official Esquie plushies. A recent post on their social media reads, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
