Umamusume: Pretty Derby is galloping towards its English release, set to launch globally on Steam on June 26, 2025. Developer Cygames made the exciting announcement on Twitter (X) on April 27, with pre-registrations opening the very next day on April 28.
Originally launched exclusively in Japan on February 24, 2021 for iOS, Android, and PC, the game introduces players to a fascinating world where legendary racehorses are reborn as "horse girls" or "Umamusume." These characters, who look like high school girls with equine features, train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy, aiming to become renowned racers and idols.
The game's Steam page promises an immersive sports life simulation, complete with an in-depth training system and stunning 3D graphics. Players can scout and train over 20 different Uma Musumes, engage in races, and deliver captivating performances. The game also features a gacha system for scouting new characters.
According to PocketGamer.biz, the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby amassed over $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within just four years, nearly reaching $1 billion in its debut year of 2021. Cygames aims to achieve similar success with the English version globally.
