WHAT IS STENCILETTO?
Stenciletto is a collection of progressive cognitive puzzles built around simple geometric shapes, designed to enhance visual and spatial perception skills. Accessible to all, the only prerequisites are the ability to recognize basic shapes—like squares, circles, and triangles—and a basic understanding of how stencils work.
Solving the puzzles engages a wide range of critical thinking abilities, including visual-spatial reasoning, logical deduction, planning, and problem-solving—all simultaneously. Though the concept seems straightforward, the challenge is surprisingly deep. The goal? Tap geometric stencils in the correct sequence to recreate the target pattern. Sounds easy, right? Think again. Stenciletto is simple in design but complex in execution, offering a workout for your brain that’s both subtle and powerful.
Developed over ten years by an experienced educator, Stenciletto has been tested and refined with input from children, teens, adults, and individuals with learning differences and brain injuries. Every group has found the game engaging, motivating, and mentally rewarding.
In this latest version, we’ve introduced Education Mode, making Stenciletto ideal for classroom use. A single purchase unlocks all educational content. The mode includes customizable controls for content access, internet connectivity, Game Center, and sharing features. It’s also compatible with Family Sharing, making it a perfect fit for homeschooling environments.
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE GAME
Originally known as the Stencil Design IQ Test, Stenciletto was created by Dr. Grace Arthur, a pioneering psychologist in the early 20th century. She believed non-verbal reasoning was a fundamental component of intelligence. Her research involved assessing Native American and deaf children who underperformed on traditional verbal IQ tests due to limited formal education. However, when evaluated using her stencil-based method, their cognitive abilities were shown to be on par with their educated peers—proving the power of visual-spatial tasks in measuring intelligence.

Stenciletto features two main puzzle types:
- Classic Games: Based on Dr. Arthur’s original designs using familiar geometric shapes—squares, circles, triangles, crosses, and more.
- World Games: Advanced challenges crafted for players with strong logic and perception skills who crave an extra level of difficulty.
With over 600 progressively graded puzzles, there’s plenty to explore. Each level includes a free set to try—60 free puzzles in total—so you can test the waters before diving in.
Each paid puzzle pack contains 15 challenges. Complete a Classic Game, and you’ll earn an animated Smiley reward. These Smileys are inspired by iconic figures from history and mythology across diverse cultures, celebrating global heritage while making progress tracking fun and meaningful.
AVAILABLE PLAY MODES
• Mortal Mode: The default challenge mode. You can purchase lives or wait for them to regenerate over time. Puzzles are timed and scored, with global leaderboards to track performance.
• Immortal Mode: Enjoy unlimited lives—just refill your life bank when needed. Also timed and scored, with its own dedicated leaderboards.
• Mindful Mode: A relaxed, untimed experience with no scores or pressure. Take your time, focus on the puzzle, and enjoy the process.
• Education Mode: Unlocks both Immortal and Mindful Modes, giving educators and parents full flexibility. Mortal Mode can be disabled to create a stress-free learning environment.
