This year marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic Yakuza / Like a Dragon series, and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is pulling out all the stops to celebrate. They're inviting fans to decide what kind of official merchandise they should produce, offering a wild array of 100 different items to choose from. The top two vote-getters will be brought to life and sold within the next two years. The voting is currently only available in Japanese, but fans worldwide can participate through the official website.
From the more conventional, like a 20th anniversary hoodie or a Yakuza-themed pencil case, to the outright bizarre, the options are endless. Standouts include the cult outfit from Yakuza 0 worn by Munan Suzuki, the leader of The Order of Munan Chohept Onast, the giant traffic cone Majima uses to ambush Kiryu in Yakuza Kiwami, and the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants."
Other quirky items up for vote include the sake Majima sips in a shack in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, the fountain pen Kiryu uses to write to Dojima in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Kashiwagi's tambourine from his karaoke performance in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, among many other unique pieces.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, fans can look forward to the release of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 21, 2025. While RGG Studio made a significant impact with the 10th anniversary release of Yakuza 0, no additional celebratory projects have been announced for later in the year. However, given RGG Studio's track record of rapid development, releasing multiple games in a single year isn't out of the question. Over the past five years, they've successfully launched nine titles, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, and two Super Monkey Ball games, along with an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5.
