The Last Knight side quest unlocks after completing Chapter 2 of the main storyline (specifically, the "What Yesterday Wept, Today Doth Sing" quest). It's recommended to progress through the main story before exploring Rinascita fully, as many side quests are locked until Chapter 2, Act 3.
Starting the Quest
Locate Cosimo in Egla Town, Whisperwind Haven. He's near the first house by the main road, marked by a blue quest marker on your map.
The Night Reveries Performance
This involves defeating the Mad Knight, who only appears at night (18:00 to 06:00). Find him at the town's central pool. He's not a particularly difficult opponent.
Mimic Chests Challenge
After defeating the Mad Knight, go to the tallest tower, then fly to Carlow's location (marked on your map). He's unconscious near a large purple flower. Touching the flower transports you to an area with chests. The first three are genuine; in the next set, only the second chest (middle-left) is real – the others are mimics. Open the correct chest for rewards, then fight off the attacking mimics.
Following the Knight's Trail
Follow the quest markers to visit two locations associated with the "Mad Knight." This involves interacting with NPCs.
After speaking with Mr. Millkeeper, follow the scent to a unique Chop Chop enemy with invulnerable Leftless and Rightless. A Questless Knight Echo is recommended for this fight, allowing you to parry and stun its attacks. Mr. Millkeeper then reveals the truth about the "Mad Knight" legend.
Finding Carlow
Return to Egla Town during the day. Find Carlow in a town plaza; he'll be confronting some knights. The quest concludes after Carlow challenges one of them to a duel, marking the end of his romanticized view of the Mad Knight. You'll receive Union XP, Astrites, and other resources as rewards.
