Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord residing in Oakheart Highcourt within the Rinascita region. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer is situated at the maze's heart in Oakheart Highcourt, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance lies southwest, near the Resonance Beacon. Use the beacon as a landmark or utilize the Flight function to bypass the maze.
The Lifer Board Game
Inside, you'll find the Lifer beside a board game. This game isn't mandatory for combat but is crucial for debuffing the Lifer. You control black pieces, the Lifer white. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. You can exit and resume the game at any time, preserving piece positions. Avoid winning before removing buffs; the Lifer will immediately attack.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance, while three are permanent. Examine the buffs via the glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- Growing Loneliness: Recovers 10% Max HP per second after 2+ seconds without attack.
- Desire for Escape: Increases ATK by 25%, further increasing DMG by 25% every 20 seconds.
- Impending Stalemate: ATK increases by 20% per DMG instance (stacks up to 4 times). Stacks reset after 6 seconds without DMG.
- Decay of Time: Gains 200% resistance to all elemental types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and a 25% Max HP increase.
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP DMG in a single hit.
Obtaining the Stakes of Imbalance
Use the Sensor near the Lifer to locate four purple lines leading to four outer-ring rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow), often requiring minor challenges (defeating Tacet Discords, breaking rocks).
Place each Stake in the module near the corresponding winged statue to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow upon successful debuffing.
Defeating the Lifer
With the removable buffs gone, the Lifer becomes significantly weaker. Win the board game or choose "Fight it out!" The Lifer's attacks are less threatening.
Rewards for defeating the Lifer:
- First victory: Premium Supply Chest
- Second victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
- Third victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests
You can re-enable buffs for a tougher challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (three victories).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game 10 times.
For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's winning moves. It will eventually make a mistake.
