The highly anticipated second Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft (WoW) has faced a delay due to unforeseen issues. Originally set to relaunch the pirate-themed battle royale mode on January 14, 2025, fans will need to wait a bit longer to dive back into the action. Plunderstorm, which was first introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, promised both original and new rewards for WoW players to collect.

The planned six-hour maintenance for the event was extended to eight hours, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. However, a forum post by WoW community manager Kaivax revealed that "unexpected issues" have pushed the launch beyond the initial timeline. While WoW aims to have Plunderstorm live before the end of January 14, no specific new launch time has been provided yet.

In the meantime, WoW has successfully brought its normal servers back online, allowing players to engage in various in-game activities. The second iteration of Plunderstorm brings new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. It's speculated that these additions may be contributing to the current issues. WoW's team is working diligently to resolve these problems so players can return to plundering as soon as possible.

Despite the delay, the excitement for Plunderstorm continues with the availability of new Twitch Drops. By watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST, players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. Notably, the streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to progress toward this reward, offering fans a fun way to pass the time until the game mode is fully operational.
