Veilguard Fans Celebrate No DRM DecisionBut No PC Preload
"Veilguard won't use Denuvo on PC. We trust you," Dragon Age: The Veilguard project director Michael Gamble
shared on Twitter (X). Digital rights management (DRM), like Denuvo, is anti-piracy software popular with publishers like EA, but unpopular with players, especially PC players, due to performance issues. BioWare's decision is celebrated. "I support this. I will buy your game upon launch. Thank you," one user replied to Michael Gamble.
Veilguard confirms no always-online requirement, as Gamble stated. The no-DRM benefit comes at a cost: no PC preload. This disappoints some players, given Veilguard's 100GB size. Console players can preload. Xbox early access players can install now; PlayStation early access players wait until October 29.
