Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio's latest adventure game, Universe for Sale, is now available. Akupara Games has already released several captivating titles this year, including the Darkside Detective series and Zoeti.
Is the Universe Actually for Sale?
The game unfolds on a space station orbiting Jupiter, a bizarre marketplace shrouded in acid rain and mystery. Orangutans with surprisingly sharp wit work the docks, and cultists barter flesh for enlightenment.
The universe itself is on the market, thanks to Lila, a woman with the unusual ability to conjure universes from her hand.
The game begins in the ramshackle mining colony shantytown. You play as the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment—a character both unsettling and intriguing.
Exploring the dilapidated colony, filled with quirky tea shops and other strange establishments, you eventually discover Honin’s Tea House, Lila’s shop. Lila’s enigmatic nature gradually unfolds as you switch between her perspective and the Master's throughout the game.
As Lila, you create universes in a captivating mini-game, mixing and matching ingredients to generate visually stunning worlds. Meanwhile, the Master's journey delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.
The narrative unfolds gradually, prompting players to theorize about the unfolding events. Each character, whether human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, and the richly detailed world invites exploration.
