This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the epic conclusion to the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it was the last Star Wars film overseen by George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012.
Fans eagerly anticipated Revenge of the Sith as it promised the dramatic transformation of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader. A key storyline involved the fate of the Jedi Order, culminating in the infamous Order 66. This sinister directive from Palpatine turned the Clone Troopers against the Jedi, leading to a devastating purge. With thousands of Jedi in service, it was inevitable that some would escape Palpatine's grasp, beyond just those known to survive into the Original Trilogy.
In the years following, numerous Order 66 survivors have been introduced in the Star Wars canon. We've compiled a list of the top 10 Jedi whose survival had a significant impact. Some survived only briefly, while others lived on to play crucial roles in the timeline, with a few whose fates remain shrouded in mystery. All these Jedi, however, managed to live another day after Palpatine's chilling command to "Execute Order 66."
For this ranking, we've set specific criteria: the characters must have been under the Jedi Order's jurisdiction before Order 66, holding ranks from Jedi Initiate to Jedi Master. This excludes non-Jedi Force-users like Maul and Palpatine, as well as those who received informal training outside the Jedi Order, such as Jod Na Nawood.
There was some debate about including Asajj Ventress, who was trained by Jedi Knight Ky Narec on Rattatak. Despite her extensive training, Ventress never visited the Jedi Temple or met the Jedi Council, and her subsequent turn to the Dark Side under Count Dooku complicates her status. We've opted to consider her an honorable mention.
