Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Receives Final Major Update, Ending Live Service
Rocksteady Studios has released the final major content update for its live-service title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Season 4 Episode 8, "Balance," is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This marks the end of new content development for the game, though servers will remain online.
Launched in February 2024 to mixed reception, the game's live-service model contributed to its relatively short lifespan. Announced on December 9th, 2024, the termination of support, effective January 14th, 2025, came as little surprise. Rocksteady confirmed that online features will remain accessible, allowing players to continue enjoying the game's co-op experience.
Episode 8 introduces significant additions:
- Libra Infamy Set: A high-risk, high-reward set inspired by the DC villain Libra, manipulating damage dealt and received by enemies.
- Notorious Weapons: New weapons, including The Silencer’s Complete Silence (with a powerful area-of-effect ability), Doctor Sivana’s Magic Bullets (piercing and electrifying enemies), and Chronos’ Equilibrium (bonus damage based on missing shield).
- New Mayhem Mission: A final showdown against Brainiac within a new medieval-themed Elseworld location, featuring areas like The Quarry and The Arena.
- Gameplay Improvements: Reduced XP requirements for Squad Levels (with retroactive rewards), and adjustments to Deathstroke's Suicide Strike.
- Bug Fixes: Numerous bug fixes addressing various gameplay issues, UI glitches, and localization problems.
Offline Play Enabled: Thanks to a previous update (Season 4 Episode 7), players can now enjoy the game's main campaign and seasonal content offline. This ensures continued access even if servers are eventually shut down.
PlayStation Plus Availability: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently available on PlayStation Plus until February 3rd, offering a chance for new players to experience the game.
Patch Notes Highlights (Season 4 Episode 8):
New Content: Medieval Elseworld expansion, Libra Infamy Set, Notorious Weapons (The Silencer’s Complete Silence, Doctor Sivana’s Magic Bullets, Chronos’ Equilibrium), and a final Mayhem mission against Brainiac.
Gameplay Changes: Reduced Squad Level XP requirements (retroactive rewards applied), adjusted Deathstroke's Suicide Strike duration.
Bug Fixes: Extensive bug fixes across various aspects of the game, including gameplay, UI, audio, and localization.
Known Issues: A known issue regarding incorrect Riddler challenge tracking is noted.
This final update concludes Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's live service journey, but the game remains playable online and offline, offering a lasting experience for its players.
