Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan feedback.
Community suggestions ranged from a Smash TV remake to Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake had been previously considered internally, and also hinted at a Star Fox-esque "rail game."
While specifics remain under wraps, Arrowhead’s active community engagement is evident. The success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
Helldivers 2 recently received a substantial update, boosting player numbers on PS5. The "Omens of Tyranny" expansion, a surprise release at the 2024 Game Awards, has been well-received, introducing the highly anticipated Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps. With a rumored Killzone crossover also in the works, Helldivers 2 is poised for continued success in 2025.
