Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with Stellar Blade generating $43 million in royalties. The PC version is projected to surpass the PlayStation 5 sales figures.
Game World Observer reported Shift Up's 2024 financial report, showcasing a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion, $43.2 million, stemmed directly from Stellar Blade royalties.
The company anticipates continued success, predicting stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025.
Project Witches, initially revealed in 2024 following Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempts any immediate sequel development. However, Shift Up has confirmed exploring future installments in the Stellar Blade franchise.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, casts players as Eve, fighting unknown invaders to reclaim Earth. The game achieved a 7/10 rating from IGN and sold over one million copies. While praised for its action gameplay, IGN's review noted shortcomings in character development, narrative, and certain RPG mechanics. Despite these criticisms, the game's commercial success is undeniable.
