This guide explains how to obtain and use the Crystalarium in Stardew Valley, a valuable tool for efficiently producing gemstones and minerals. The 1.6 update introduced subtle changes to its functionality, particularly regarding relocation and stone replacement.
Obtaining a Crystalarium
The Crystalarium crafting recipe unlocks at Mining Skill Level 9. Required materials include:
- 99 Stone: Easily obtained by breaking rocks.
- 5 Gold Bars: Crafted from Gold Ore (found at mine levels 80 and below) using a Furnace and Coal.
- 2 Iridium Bars: Crafted from Iridium Ore (found in Skull Cavern or from the Statue of Perfection) using a Furnace and Coal.
- 1 Battery Pack: Obtained by placing a Lightning Rod outside during a thunderstorm.
Alternative acquisition methods:
- Community Center Bundle: Complete the 25,000g bundle in the Vault.
- Museum Donation: Donate at least 50 minerals (gemstones or geodes) to the Museum.
Using the Crystalarium
Place the Crystalarium anywhere (indoors or outdoors). The Quarry is a popular location for multiple Crystalariums.
The Crystalarium replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards). Quartz has the shortest production time but low value. Diamonds have the longest (5 days) but highest value.
To remove a Crystalarium, hit it with an axe or pickaxe. The current gem will drop if it's producing. To change the gem being replicated, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gem. The old gem will be ejected, and the new one will begin production.
By using the Crystalarium, players can significantly increase their gemstone profits and enhance their relationships with villagers who appreciate gemstone gifts.
