EA is set to unveil its highly anticipated Star Wars turn-based tactics game at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This exciting project has been under development at Bit Reactor, a studio founded by veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the acclaimed XCOM franchise. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this new strategy game to life. The first glimpse of the game will be showcased during a live panel on April 19, featuring the lead development team from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, as announced on the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.
While details about the game are scarce, including the specific Star Wars era it will explore and the exact mechanics of its gameplay, the involvement of former XCOM developers suggests a tactical experience infused with the rich universe of Star Wars. Fans are eagerly awaiting more information on this promising title.
Respawn Entertainment, known for their work on the Star Wars Jedi series, is also progressing with the third installment of the trilogy, though it won't be featured at this year's Star Wars Celebration. Additionally, Respawn was previously developing another Star Wars game, a first-person shooter rumored to involve a Mandalorian protagonist, which was unfortunately canceled due to a significant restructuring at EA that resulted in the loss of around 670 jobs. Earlier in March, Respawn also canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project, leading to further layoffs.
At Star Wars Celebration, attendees can look forward to more than just the new strategy game. Lucasfilm will provide a sneak peek at the upcoming movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, set to release in May 2026, and a first look at Star Wars: Visions Volume 3.
