Today marks an exciting milestone for fans of *Star Wars Outlaws* as the game receives its first story expansion, "A Pirate’s Fortune," available across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The driving force behind this new content is none other than the beloved Weequay pirate, Hondo Ohnaka, who has captured the hearts of many at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment.
Drew Rechner, the Creative Director, shared with IGN that the team's passion for Hondo Ohnaka, known from the *Darth Maul* comics and *Star Wars: The Clone Wars* animated series, fueled the creation of this DLC. "We always knew because there were so many passionate people on the team that we needed to feature Hondo. And, you know, that scoundrel fantasy of Kay mixing with the pirate fantasy of Hondo, it just kind of makes sense, right?" Rechner explained. He further highlighted how the expansion allows the protagonist, Kay, to evolve into her role as a leader, possibly under Hondo's mentorship, which adds intriguing layers to the narrative.
"A Pirate’s Fortune" introduces players to a thrilling new adventure involving the Rokana Raiders crime gang and the Miyuki Trade League, which can provide Kay with essential upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Additionally, a new blaster capability called Shock is added, enhancing gameplay mechanics.
In other news, *Star Wars Outlaws* is set to launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about specific new features for this platform, he assured fans that more details would be forthcoming. "In terms of a specific feature set, that's something that we will get into later. So we'll have more stuff to talk about later," he teased. Potential enhancements for the Switch 2 version could include utilizing the console's innovative controllers as a mouse and exploring new GameChat capabilities.
