Monopoly Go, the mobile gaming phenomenon, is set to embark on an intergalactic adventure by joining forces with the iconic Star Wars franchise. This collaboration, unveiled today at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, will run from May 1 to July 2, drawing inspiration from the Skywalker Saga and The Mandalorian.
Beyond offering adorable cartoon versions of beloved Star Wars characters, the limited-time event introduces a Star Wars-themed sticker album to complete, podracing in the Mos Espa Grand Arena, and collectible in-game items such as tokens, shields, and emojis. Players will also encounter the likes of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo, R2-D2, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, and Qui-Gon Jinn mingling alongside Mr. Monopoly, a.k.a. Rich Uncle Pennybags.
This isn’t the first time Monopoly Go has collaborated with pop culture icons. Last September, Marvel superheroes like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Avengers made their debut in the game. Publisher Scopely has also expanded its portfolio by acquiring the Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now teams as part of a strategic deal with Niantic.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, Monopoly Go topped the charts in 2024 for consumer spending, raking in a staggering $2.47 billion in revenue. The game also achieved impressive milestones in 2024, with 150 million downloads and 10 million daily active users.
