As someone who grew up in the 1990s, The Next Generation (which aired from 1987 to 1994 and was in constant syndication) will always hold the top spot as my favorite incarnation of the franchise. While Deep Space Nine and Strange New Worlds are fantastic, and the original series is legendary, Captain Picard is my captain. Supporting characters like Data, Troi, Worf, Riker, Geordi, Dr. Crusher, and even Wesley Crusher are, in my opinion, some of the best ever written. It's an incredible crew. I have a soft spot for the first two seasons as well, despite their occasionally campy and uneven tone. The entire series feels like a warm, nostalgic comfort.
For comprehensive access to the Star Trek universe, a Paramount+ subscription is an option, and the service offers plenty of other great content. However, I prefer not to depend on a monthly subscription to watch my favorite films and shows, which is why I purchase them in physical or digital formats. Consider picking up this set if you want permanent access to Star Trek: TNG, independent of your Paramount+ subscription or internet connection.
