Jharrel Jerome, star of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," has tempered expectations about the release of the eagerly awaited third installment, "Beyond the Spider-Verse." In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome revealed that he hasn't begun recording lines for the film, indicating that production is still in the planning stages. He emphasized that "a lot of things are being figured out," but reassured fans that these are "good things."
Given that "Across the Spider-Verse" was released five years after the first film in 2023, many fans were not anticipating an immediate follow-up. When asked directly about the start of production, Jerome responded, "No, I wish. We haven’t started up yet."

Although Jerome had a smaller role in the second film, he is set to play a significant part in the third as the main antagonist. Spoiler warning for Across the Spider-Verse's finale: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who, unlike the series' protagonist, did not become Spider-Man. Instead, he becomes the Prowler. This alternate Miles' life took a darker turn when the radioactive spider meant for him ended up in the protagonist's reality, leading to the death of his universe's Peter Parker and the rise of supervillains in New York.
The narrative of how this alternate Miles clashes with the main Miles, who did become Spider-Man, is expected to unfold in "Beyond the Spider-Verse." However, fans will need to exercise patience as the film's release is not anticipated until 2026 at the earliest, according to Deadline. If it follows the release pattern of its predecessor, it might not hit theaters until 2028.
