Tomnoki Studio's Sphere Defense is a new tower defense game for Android, drawing inspiration from the timeless geoDefense by David Whatley. The developer, a longtime fan of geoDefense, aimed to recreate its elegantly simple yet challenging gameplay.
The Core Concept
Earth, or "The Sphere," faces imminent destruction at the hands of alien invaders. Humanity, forced underground, scrambles to develop new technologies for defense. After years of setbacks, they finally possess the firepower to launch a counteroffensive, and you're at the helm of this planetary defense effort.
Gameplay
Sphere Defense faithfully delivers the classic tower defense experience. You strategically deploy various units, each with unique strengths, to repel waves of enemies. Successful engagements earn you resources to expand and upgrade your defenses. Higher difficulty levels significantly increase the strategic challenge.
Difficulty and Duration
Three difficulty levels (easy, normal, and hard) are available, each comprising 10 stages. Expect each stage to last between 5 and 15 minutes. See the game in action:
Diverse Turrets for Effective Defense
Sphere Defense features seven distinct unit types, requiring strategic combination for survival. These include:
- Offensive Units: Standard Attack Turret (single-target), Area Attack Turret (area-of-effect), and Piercing Attack Turret (for linear enemy formations).
- Support Units: Cooling Turret and Incendiary Turret, enhancing the effectiveness of offensive units.
- Precision Strike Units: Fixed-Point Attack Unit (precise missile strikes) and Linear Attack Unit (satellite laser attacks).
