The boys are back in town, and we're not just talking about any boys — we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the current state of affairs in their unique, barely-coping way.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer to announce the upcoming season, but with a twist that initially fooled the audience into thinking it was a sneak peek at a new drama. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music set an ominous tone... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on-screen. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, asks her if she's been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he suggests, adding a classic South Park twist to the dramatic buildup.
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and topical events for the season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy appearance, and, of course, another war with Canada. Longtime fans, or even those who've seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, won't be surprised by the latter.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will air on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, a testament to its enduring popularity since its debut on Comedy Central in 1997, where it quickly garnered near-instant acclaim.
