Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see a significant reduction in their game library as 22 titles, including fan favorites such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of Sony's own Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, will be removed. This change is set to take effect on May 20, 2025.
PlayStation Plus is a premium online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members have access to a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games, enhancing their gaming experience.
As highlighted by Push Square, the departure of these 22 games from the PlayStation Plus Premium library is noteworthy, especially as it includes two significant first-party Sony PS3 titles, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. These games are leaving the service less than a year after their addition at the end of 2024.

The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 from the PS Plus Premium streaming service is particularly significant because these titles are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store. This means that once they are removed from the service, they will be inaccessible on modern consoles unless players own physical copies and a functioning PS3.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac Games following their success with the Ratchet and Clank series, consists of alternate history first-person shooters. The franchise saw three releases on the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
While it is rare for Sony to pull first-party titles from their service, it has happened before, as seen with the removal of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West in August 2024. However, those games remained purchasable, unlike Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which will be completely unavailable after their removal.
Notably, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service, as will other first-party PS4 titles like InFamous: Second Son, which is also leaving the PS Plus library.
Insomniac's efforts to revive the Resistance series with a potential Resistance 4 were unsuccessful, as mentioned by Insomniac founder Ted Price. This has left the series dormant, similar to the fate of Guerrilla Games' Killzone series.
