Fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel to KPop Demon Hunters, although the anticipated release isn't scheduled until 2029. Meanwhile, it's fun to imagine what the next chapter might bring—and the vocalists behind the film’s central KPop girl group, HUNTR/X, have been doing just that.
EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami have shared their hopes for the upcoming story. "I'd love to see more elements of Korean tradition—like historical culture, music, and food," EJAE, who provides the singing voice for lead character Rumi, told Collider in a recent interview.
Audrey Nuna, who voices Mira, hopes the group goes global. "I want to see the girls exploring different cities and sharing their talents internationally. The film has made such a worldwide impact," she told the outlet. "There's already this interesting connection between the movie and real life, and I’d like that to keep developing."
Rei Ami, who sings for Zoey, offered two exciting ideas for the sequel. "I’d love a look at how the girls first came together as a group," Ami shared during the interview. "If it’s not a prequel, then I want Gwi-Ma to return. We need a compelling antagonist—I’m really curious to see who it will be."
KPop Demon Hunters only briefly touches on the origin of HUNTR/X, so diving deeper into their early days would be a welcome addition. It would also be intriguing to see the main villain, Gwi-Ma, return in some form—perhaps, as Nuna suggested, his followers could emerge in another country.
KPop Demon Hunters, Netflix's most-watched movie with over 400 million views to date, is currently streaming on the platform. It’s available in both the original version and a sing-along edition. For those who haven’t seen it, this Sony Pictures Animation film follows Korean pop band HUNTR/X—a trio who secretly fight demons while battling an evil demon king determined to consume humanity. In our 8/10 review, we praised it as "a stunning animated action musical with thrilling fight scenes, unforgettable songs, and plenty of harmony and heart."
